JSW Builds Beyond the Electric Vehicle

JSW Group is entering electric commercial mobility with a model that puts vehicles, charging, financing and after-sales support under one ecosystem.

JSW Builds Beyond the Electric Vehicle

JSW Greentech has launched AMPSTAR, marking JSW Group’s entry into India’s electric commercial-vehicle market with a portfolio of buses and trucks. But the larger shift is in the business model.

AMPSTAR is being positioned as a full-stack commercial mobility solution, combining electric vehicles with charging infrastructure, operating solutions, financing and after-sales support. Customers can choose power configurations from 150 kW to 500 kW, alongside outright purchase, leasing and Battery as a Service options.

The vehicles will be manufactured at JSW Greentech’s 90-acre facility at AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with annual capacity for 15,000 electric buses and trucks. The company says its vehicles are engineered in-house for Indian operating conditions, including the electric drivetrain’s base logic, software and algorithms.

The initial portfolio will span 7–18 metre buses and a 55-tonne electric tractor-trailer, with tippers and fixed-body dumpers planned subsequently.

Why It Matters:

AMPSTAR reflects a broader evolution in electric commercial mobility: the product is becoming an ecosystem. For fleet operators, the transition increasingly depends not only on the vehicle, but also on financing, energy, charging, uptime and ongoing support.
