Renault Trucks Takes Sustainability Beyond Emissions

Renault Trucks has entered EcoVadis’ top 1% for sustainability, reflecting progress across environmental performance, workplace practices, business ethics and responsible procurement.

Renault Trucks Takes Sustainability Beyond Emissions

After seven consecutive years at Gold level, Renault Trucks has earned the EcoVadis Platinum medal for the first time, scoring 88/100 in 2026. The five-point improvement over the previous year and 25-point rise since 2019 reflect a broader shift towards measurable sustainability practices across its operations and supply chain.

The manufacturer achieved 100/100 in the Environment category for the fifth consecutive year. Its wider efforts include expanding electric truck offerings, improving the efficiency of diesel vehicles and electrifying parts of its industrial logistics operations.

At its Lyon-Vénissieux site, recovered industrial heat is being used to heat buildings and support certain processes. The system, combined with a connection to the local district heating network, is expected to avoid more than 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually and reduce overall site energy consumption by around 10%.

Progress also extends beyond the environment. Renault Trucks scored 90/100 in Ethics and Sustainable Procurement, while its Labour and Human Rights score rose to 74/100. Working with the Volvo Group, it also engages suppliers on environmental and social performance.

Why It Matters

For commercial transport, sustainability increasingly depends on the entire value chain—not only tailpipe emissions. Manufacturing efficiency, responsible sourcing, workplace practices and vehicle performance all contribute to the sector’s transition towards more sustainable operations.
