JBM TAKES INDIAN ELECTRIC BUS AMBITION TO SINGAPORE

India’s electric bus manufacturing ambitions are gaining international traction. JBM Electric Vehicles (JBM EV) has launched its ECOLIFE e12 electric city bus in Singapore, alongside establishing its Asia-Pacific (APAC) headquarters in the city-state.

Unveiled at Singapore Urban Mobility Week on 4 November 2026, the launch marks the company's entry into Singapore's electric bus market. According to JBM, it is the first Indian manufacturer to launch an electric bus in the country.

The ECOLIFE e12 features a lightweight, full-aluminium monocoque body, an Intelligent Transport System designed to meet Singapore's regulatory requirements and advanced telematics providing round-the-clock access to vehicle health information.

Its safety package includes Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), with forward collision and lane-departure warnings, pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring and driver drowsiness alerts. A 360-degree camera and fire detection and suppression system further support operational safety.

The new Singapore headquarters will co-ordinate regional marketing and sales, aftersales, operations and business partnerships.

JBM reports a global electric bus order book of 10,000 vehicles, with more than 4,000 buses already operating across markets and annual manufacturing capacity of 20,000 units in India.

Why It Matters

JBM's Singapore move signals a shift from exporting electric buses to building a regional business ecosystem around them. Local market presence, aftersales support and partnerships will be crucial to converting India's manufacturing scale into sustained international growth.
