The opening of Etihad Rail’s Dubai Station marks a new phase in the UAE’s national passenger rail network, with services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah commencing on 30 September 2026. The expansion positions Dubai as a key connection point between national rail and the emirate’s wider transport ecosystem.
The station connects to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station through a dedicated pedestrian bridge, enabling direct transfers between Etihad Rail and Dubai Metro. Integration with Nol, Dubai’s integrated public transport payment system, also enables passengers to book Etihad Rail and public transport services through a single QR code across train, Metro, Tram and bus services.
Passenger services are operated by Etihad Rail Mobility, a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis, combining national transport capabilities with international railway operating expertise. Fares start at AED39 for Comfort Class and AED109 for Premium Class.
The Dubai Station was inaugurated recently by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, in the presence of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Mohamed had travelled from Abu Dhabi to Dubai aboard Etihad Rail ahead of the ceremony. The event was also attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan and other senior officials.
Why It Matters:
Dubai’s integration into the national passenger rail network shifts Etihad Rail towards a more connected mobility system, linking inter-city rail with established urban transport infrastructure.
